Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants

My aim is to bring to you the knowledge of experts on the subject of vitamins for nutrition and heath. I will  acknowledge the people;  and their wisdom.  They are giants in this field and upon whose shoulders I stand as I create this website.

I wanted to find an introduction for the importance of vitamins in nutrition and this follows. It is the wisdom and words of Atsuo Yanagisawa, MD, PhD. His wisdom was published in the foreword to : The Orthomolecular Treatment Of Chronic Disease – 65 Experts on Therapeutic and Preventive Nutrition, edited by Andrew W Saul, PhD, Basic Health Publications, 2014

Introduction by Atsuo Yanagisawa,MD,PhD

” Health is undeniably a requirement for our happiness, as well as for our family, friends, and children of the coming generations, yet I consider this era to be the most difficult time in history to maintain our health.

In the past, we had a hope that all diseases would disappear with the advancements in medicine. It turns out that we are seeing increases in the number of patients with stroke, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, allergic diseases, psychiatric diseases, and various other health issues.

We live in an environment stressed by pollution. poisonous food additives, and low-nutrition junk food. This environment puts our health in jeopardy and vulnerable to various chronic diseases.

As scientists and journalists confirm, the number of sick people should decrease if medicine has really evolved as much as we have been told. The unfortunate fact is that modern standard medicine, which centers on pharmacotherapy, has difficulty treating, let alone curing, chronic diseases; it may even create new diseases due to adverse effects of conventional treatments.

Healthcare professionals and the public are becoming aware of the limits of standard medicine. Orthomolecular medicine can surpass these limits and bring hope to the future by providing what is really good for people’s physical and mental health.

Orthomolecular medicine prevents and treats diseases by providing optimal amounts of substances that are natural to the body. This means we can prevent and treat illnesses and maintain ideal health through proper diet with the supplemental addition of vitamins, minerals, essential fats, and amino acids.

Orthomolecular medicine has been proven to be effective, with considerable medical evidence from the leaders and pioneers, including Dr. Abram Hoffer and Dr. Linus Pauling, two -time Nobel Prize winner.

Orthomolecular medicine provides effective treatments without adverse effects, unlike synthetic medicine, by enhancing the body’s natural healing power to fight chronic disease. Our colleagues and other healthcare professionals have successfully treated thousands of patients with chronic diseases utilizing orthomolecular medicine and nutritional therapy.

Nutritional therapy should be the first choice for treatment and prevention of diseases. We should choose standard medicine only when nutritional treatment has proven ineffective, because it is a doctor”s duty to choose a safe treatment with the least adverse effects.

Nutritional treatment has evolved in the long history of mankind, proving its safety and effectiveness. Orthomolecular medicine has been established as a scientific way of treatment. Our second choice – the standard treatment uses pharmaceutical drugs as its lead option.

The reason for its placement as the second choice is that tens of millions of people suffer every year from the adverse effects of drugs ( legally and properly prescribed drugs – my words), and hundreds of thousands are dying from them. This simple fact is surely enough for us to realize that our first choice should be nutritional treatment.

Unfortunately it has become the norm in the last 20 to 30 years for doctors and patients to choose drugs as soon as they spot a disease. What we consider as a “dangerous drug” is their first choice.

Behind this trend are the pharmaceutical giants who grow rich from people choosing their dangerous products. ……. We have to give a cautious look at how we treat diseases, and take a lead in spreading the safe way of medicine with nutritional treatment….”

Growing This Site

The start is the wisdom and insight of Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa  MD in his introduction to one of the great publications about orthomolecular medicine for the treatment of chronic diseases .

I intend to bring to you more posts reviewing the work and findings of the experts in orthomolecular medicine and how vitamins are a key part of healthy nutrition. Which vitamins are essential for your health and how much to take.

I am presenting their knowledge and insights so that you can make your own nutrition decisions and take charge of your well-being and happiness.

Vitamins for health and well-being

Be healthy through good nutrition. The role of vitamins in this context is well-established.

There are bloggers, whose true motives can only be suspect, who incorrectly post false information and opinion abut the effectiveness of vitamins. Most likely you will have heard of some of their myths and lies.

There will be posts to this site that refute the untruths and false factoids of these bloggers who spread misinformation and lies. Who pays them to this and why?

Vitamins Are Safe and Effective

No one has ever died from an overdose of vitamins. This is data from US poison control center annual data. See :

Doctor Yourself, pp372-374, AW Saul,  Ph.d, Basic Health Publications,2013

“Over a twenty eight year period, vitamin supplements have been alleged to have caused the deaths of a total of 11 people in the USA.

A new analysis of US Poison control center annual report data indicates that there have, in fact, been no deaths whatsoever from vitamins… none at all, in the 28 years since such reports have been available.”

If anyone claims  that someone has died from the effects of taking vitamins it is a lie.

Conclusion

The content of this site will grow as I find the time to write the posts. There is no doubt about the important role of vitamins in good nutrition.

Nor is there doubt about the role of good nutrition to maintain well-being and for the treatment of diseases.

Thanks for visiting my site.
