Off the shelf and prescribed drugs – side effects

Every year over 85,000 Americans dies from the side effects of over- the -counter medications and properly prescribed drugs/pharmaceuticals. More dies from the side effects of prescribed drugs given due to clinical error – wrongly prescribed treatments due to errors in diagnoses.

All manufactured drugs have side effects. The longer you take them then the more likely they are to make your more ill and experience illnesses over and above your original problem.

Please read the side effects of the medication you are taking and thereby take responsibility for your own health. Make sure you are aware of all the side effects of the drugs prescribed for you including birth control pills based on hormones.

If you are experiencing the side effects then make changes for your health before its too late.

Each person’s metabolism is unique and some people have a lesser tolerance to chemical drugs and other have a higher tolerance. It is not a situation where one size fits all. Those who are ill often have a compromised immune system and react badly to even small doses of prescribed drugs. Their sensitivity is greater than others and thus the side effects of the drugs are greater and more dangerous.

Malnutrition due to vitamin deficits

Diseases Of Malnutrition – acknowledged by the medical profession and the government. Verified by science

  • Pellagra – symptoms start with fatigue and depression and can grow to dermatitis, diarrhea, psychosis, dementia and death. The cause is a deficit of the B vitamins and iron
  • Arthritis – joint pain and swelling and loss of bone mass. Leads to fine and large fractures. Cause is a deficit of vitamin C, vitamin D and calcium and magnesium. Low energy, fatigue and depression are also symptoms.
  • SAD – seasonal affective disorder or depression. Caused by a vitamin D deficit especially during the winter and spring. Depression and fatigue is a result of a vitamin D deficit plus loss of bone mass and arthritis.
  • Scurvy – the body is unable to make collagen to repair itself. Loss of teeth, joint, function and bleeding via damaged arteries and blood vessels. This can be undiagnosed at first until the symptoms become worse. It initially is fatigue, pain and lack of energy. The cause is a deficit of vitamin C which prevents the body from repairing itself and in particular the manufacture of collagen – required for body repair and cell replacement.
  • Rickets. A disease that affects children in the main. A deficit of vitamin D, vitamin B, magnesium and calcium causes fragile bones and deformation of the bones.
  • Arrhythmia – uneven heart beat. A deficit of magnesium cause muscle spasms including the heart muscles. Magnesium is used by every cell in your body and a deficit causes ill health – cramps and leg twitches are a symptom along with irregular heart beat. This causes stress on the cardiovascular system and loss of flexibility in the smooth muscle of the arteries.
  • Selenium is an important mineral. It’s necessary for many processes, A lack of selenium may cause
    • hypothyroid syndrome – not enough thyroid hormone is produced for proper metabolism
    • cell replacement requires selenium
    • reproduction – causes infertility. Farmers provide it as a supplement to stock to avoid this serious issue.
    • protection from infection – the immune systems needs this element to work effectively
    • skin problems
    • depression and fatigue.
  • Zinc is another key element needed by all cells in the body to function well and a shortage often manifests as skin problems.
  • Hypothyroidism. The thyroid gland can produce enough thyroid hormone for the body to remain healthy. Symptoms are fatigue, depression and goiter. Prolonged deficit of thyroid hormone leads to malfunction of the immune system and lack of protection against infections both viral and bacterial. This can be cured with additional iodine plus vitamin supplementation with C, B complex, D and multivitamin and mineral supplementation.
  • Beriberi is a disease caused by a vitamin B-1 deficiency – thiamine deficiency. Beriberi affects the heart and circulatory system. Beriberi can cause heart failure.
  • Dehydration. Most people do not drink enough water and are dehydrated. Without sufficient water the body cannot function properly and illnesses are the result. See the article on this site about proper hydration. Muscle and joint pains are one of the symptoms of dehydration.
  • Gum disease. Painful, swollen and bleeding gums. This is caused by a deficit of vitamin C and vitamin B as well as poor dental care.

There is growing evidence that malnutrition – a deficit of key vitamins and minerals – is a cause of serious illnesses including the ones listed above which have been acknowledged by government medical authorities.

Research has discovered that the herpes virus has been found to be a factor in causing artery damage in animals and birds.

There is no doubt that when the body is malnourished it is more susceptible to infections [ both viral and bacterial] and suffers from physical damage to cells and organs and structure.

Oxidation is simply the effect of oxygen reacting with matter. In our bodies it affects all of our cells. Its part of living however it can be reduced by taking anti-oxidants – vitamin C is a proven anti-oxidant.

Hypothyroid Syndrome

This occurs when the thyroid gland cannot produce sufficient thyroid hormone for the body to function properly. The thyroid hormone is needed
by all body cells to function properly. The symptoms are chronic fatigue and depression.

This problem is often misdiagnosed as depression or some other autoimmune disease. Some doctors do not test for this problem and dish out anti-depressants instead,

Read the book entitled : Thyroid Power : 10 steps to total health, written by R.L. Shames M.D. and K.H. Shames, R.N., PhD., Harper Collins, 2002

The authors also have a website thyroid power.com where you can learn more about this condition.

Note that there are different manifestations of this problem. It can be sub-clinical whereby it manifests as ongoing tiredness and low level
depression or it can be fully present with the symptoms of severe fatigue and or depression.
One of the causes of thyroid gland malfunction is a lack of iodine. Iodine is a key nutrient for your thyroid gland to function properly. Seaweed is a natural source of iodine and supplements can be use as well.

Anemia

Anemia is a low red blood cell count. Moderate to severe fatigue is one of the symptoms.

This can be a side effect of properly prescribed medication. Get a blood test and supplement with iron plus vitamin C to rebuild your red blood cell count to a health level.

Vitamin D deficit

This is a very common deficit for both women and men. A low level of vitamin D causes fatigue and depression.

Our body makes vitamin D however for this to happen we must experience sunlight on our skin for at least half an hour per day. This is the minimum for persons with dominant European genes but for people with darker skin pigmentation a longer exposure to sunlight is necessary to make enough vitamin D to be healthy.

A vitamin D deficit also cause loss of bone mass and the inability to metabolize calcium for good bone health.

Most people do not make sufficient vitamin D and need to take it as a supplement to remain healthy and maintain bone health and density.
Take a minimum of 400 IU per day. For people who do not get outdoors and are over 45 the recommended intake is up to 800IU per day in two divided doses over the day.

Vitamins and Minerals For Good Health

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a proven ant-oxidant, anti-viral and anti-bacterial infection agent. It is critical for the function of your immune system.

Your body needs vitamin C to manufacture collagen the stuff that skin, muscles and ligaments are made from plus it is required to replace and repair cells in the smooth muscle walls of the arteries.

Unlike most mammals we cannot make our own and have to take it as a supplement. Three 1000 mg capsules, morning, noon and night will maintain a healthy level of vitamin C in your body.

Vitamin C quickly reduces the effects of colds and flu. The secret is to use large quantities when you have a cold or the flu. Take 1000mg
every hour while the effects of the flu or cold are present.

If your body is short of vitamin C the effects on your health are major. Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing your teeth is one of the
first signs. Smokers are usually very deficient and need constant supplementation to restore their levels of vitamin C. Gum and teeth
problems also occur if your body is low on B vitamins. Take b complex for teeth and gum health.

Your immune system needs vitamin C to function effectively and combat invading bacteria and viruses. Your body needs it to renew your organs
and cells; to grow cells to replace old ones.

Vitamin C is essential to help your body heal from injuries and operations. It speeds up healing and helps prevent infections. If you know someone with painful skin ulcers that will not heal then tell them to take vitamin C and B complex orally. When ill or recovering from injuries take one 1000mg vitamin C tablet 5 times per day until well again.

The medical mainstream does not advocate vitamin C as a healing agent and quote clinical tests that used only tiny amounts of vitamin C per and thus were totally ineffective. To combat colds and the flu you need to take adequate quantities of vitamin C to get relief – at least six 1000mg tablets spread over the day.

See the reference in the bibliography for further information about the healing effects of vitamin C and dosages.

Vitamin B complex

The B complex vitamins are essential for your body to function well including your brain and the rest of the nervous system.

A deficit of these vitamins causes fatigue, depression and skin problems.

Take at least one B100 complex capsule per day or more if you are unwell.

America and Europe experienced epidemics of a nasty disease called pellagra which had symptoms ranging from fatigue and depression, skin lesions, upset gut to the extreme mental illnesses of dementia, bi=polar and schizophrenia. Also, symptoms like those of ADHD were expressed. In 1939 a scientist discovered that pellagra was caused by a deficiency of B vitamins and in particular B3.

The USA government passed legislation requiring the addition of vitamin B plus iron to white flour before it could be sold or used in food manufacture. The epidemic of pellagra abated and sufferers became well again with the healing effect of the vitamin B. Persons that suffered from pellagra for a long time needed additional vitamin B3 to recover their health, both physical and mental, and had to keep p on taking B complex to remain well.

Pellagra sufferers who experienced the extreme mental illness symptoms of the disease mostly recovered their health by taking 3,000 to 6,000 mg of vitamin B3 per day in divided doses over the day – these sufferers had the symptoms of manic behavior, dementia and schizophrenia. See the reference in the bibliography to schizophrenia and depression cures using vitamin C, vitamin B complex and vitamin B3.

With modern diets of processed foods it is often impossible to get adequate vitamin B complex from food and supplementation is necessary to remain well.

Vitamin D and Calcium

A critical nutrient to avoid depression, fatigue and maintain bone health. It is necessary for your body to metabolize calcium and maintain healthy bone strength and mass.

Vitamin C, vitamin D and calcium are essential for the repair of broken bones and to restore bone health. The citrate or orotate forms of calcium are easier for the body to metabolize. Calcium is a safe supplement provided you take with vitamin D and C so that your body can properly metabolize it.

They are necessary to reduce the effect of arthritis and repair joints.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E plus vitamin C are essential for the health of your cardiovascular system. They are essential nutrients to maintain the elasticity of the smooth muscles of the arteries and heal your body maintain and repair artery inner linings.

They also help prevent narrowing and loss of flexibility of the arteries called atherosclerosis. Take both daily a minimum of 400IU of vitamin E and three 1000 mg capsules of vitamin C per day.

Multivitamins

Take at least one multivitamin per day that contains the trace elements and minerals our body needs to remain healthy. Manganese and chromium are both essential in small quantities for our immune system to function properly.

Selenium

Many soils are deficient in selenium. Farmers give it to their animals to keep them healthy and we need it as well. Its for our immune system and is needed for cell repair and replacement. 20 mg per day is sufficient.

Zinc

A critical element to maintain skin and hair health. 20 mg daily .

Magnesium

This is a key nutrient for bone, muscles and the brain and nervous system. Best isn a magnesium citrate or orotate form.

It cures restless leg syndrome and body twitching whilst sleeping. Cramps in the legs and feet are a sign of magnesium deficiency and also an irregular heart beat or palpitations.

Manganese

A deficit of manganese can cause tremors of shaking of the limbs and head. Tardive dyskinesia is caused by a manganese deficit. Take 1 mg per day only.

Gut Health

More and more research is verifying that the health of the bacteria in your gut affects the overall health and function of your body.

Take some plain unsweetened yogurt daily to help maintain gut health.

Have sugar [ a source of sucrose and glucose] and simple carbohydrates [ white flour and corn sugar/fructose] as treats and cut down on it as much as you can. There is a diabetes and obesity epidemic out there and it is caused by the over consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates. Cuts these out of your diet and you will lose weight and regain energy to be and do.

Many people suffer from fatigue and depression due to the over consumption of sugar, white flour based products and products made using corn. The body is overloaded with sugar and simple carbs and cannot function properly.

Taking vitamin B whilst modifying your diet is very helpful in overcoming cravings and allowing your body to adjust to a new level of health. Vitamin B3 and vitamin B complex will help you overcome the cravings often associated with a reduction in sugar and refined carbohydrates.

Allergies

If you have cravings for it then it might well cause an allergic reaction and or disease. Taking vitamin B whilst modifying your diet is very helpful in overcoming cravings and allowing your body to adjust to a new level of health.

Allergic reactions to food are not always extreme however they do cause depression and fatigue which is cured by the removal of the allergy causing item from the diet.

See the article on this site about allergies.

Orthomolecular Treatment For Schizophrenia by Abram Hoffer M.D., Keats Publishing, 1999

Natural Treatments For Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a cerebral disease which causes the sufferer to create illusions, which maybe auditory and or visual. The sufferer reacts irrationally due to the illusions or delusions.

The sad reality is that conventional medicine does not cure this disease and manages only to suppress the symptoms so that the sufferer is not extremely dysfunctional and exists in a highly medicated state [ tranquilizers/lithium] whereby feelings and emotions are suppressed by prescribed drugs.

The sufferer does not lead a normal life but instead a highly sedated and unreal existence – akin to a chemical lobotomy.

This article is about a natural healing process developed by Abram Hoffer, M.D., PhD., which he used to cure many patients of the disease of schizophrenia and for others reduce the amount of prescribed drugs they were forced to take to suppress the symptoms of the disease.

This is natural healing that has been proven to work by a medical doctor.

Dr. Hoffer specialized in psychiatry and worked both privately and in the public health system.

He published many papers based upon his clinical experience and other medical practitioners successfully used his protocol to heal their patients with schizophrenia.

Dr. Hoffer wrote the book entitled : Orthomolecular Treatment For Schizophrenia – megavitamin supplements and nutritional strategies for healing and recovery, published by Keats Publishing, 1999.

This book describes the disease, its causes [ including allergic reaction] and how to cure it.

It is only fifty pages long and very well written and easy to read.

If you know someone afflicted with the cerebral disease of schizophrenia know it can be cured and a live saved from years of misery and drug induced numbness.

Dr. Hoffer was not able to avoid the use of tranquilizers for all patients that had suffered from schizophrenia for many years, chronic patients, however his treatment led to a big reduction in the amount of tranquilizer these patients required to remain well and freed them from the numbing effect of large daily doses of tranquilizers.

Allergies

Allergic reactions can seriously affect the functioning of the brain.

Dr. Hoffer would put all of his new patients on a four day fast and then onto a diet of know non-allergenic foods. He did this to ensure that the cause of the schizophrenia was not allergy related. He had patients who quickly returned to normal health due to allergies to :

– aspirin

– cigarettes

– animal protein

These were identified by the 4-day fast process and then elimination of foods or other substances which were found to be the cause of the allergic reaction.

Vitamins

Dr. Hoffer found that vitamin B complex group of vitamins and vitamin C were very effective at curing schizophrenia.

Of the B complex vitamins Dr. Hoffer found the following to be very effective

  • Vitamin B3 in the form of niacin
  • Vitamin B6 [Pyridoxine]
  • Folic Acid and Vitamin B12

Some people are unable to metabolize vitamin B12 from their food and need to receive injections on a regular basis to make sure they have enough B12 to remain healthy. Blood tests can show if this is an issue.

Vitamin C is required by our body to remain healthy but unlike lots of other mammals we can make it ourselves and need to get it from food however most people do not get enough vitamin C in their food and to remain well it is necessary to supplement – up to 3000 mgs per day is recommended in three divided doses over the day.

Essential Fatty Acids – EFAs

Vitamin B3 and essential fatty acids were found to be essential for the body to make prostaglandins. These are critical for good mental health.

A good source of EFAs is flax oil and fish oil.

The EFAs are essential nutrients for good health and must be taken as part of the healing protocol.

Minerals

The essential minerals for good mental health are :

  • zinc- 20 mg daily
  • copper – 1to 2 mgs per day only
  • manganese – 1 mg per day
  • selenium – 20 mg per day
  • magnesium – 50 to 100 mg per day

Note that there is a disease called Tardive Dyskinesia. The symptoms are uncontrollable shaking of hands and sometimes arms and legs and head in more severe cases. This can be successfully treated by supplementing with manganese daily in small doses not exceeding 5 mg per day, reducing to 1 mg per day as the symptoms reduce.

Time and Support

Dr Hoffer would see his patients on a regular basis to monitor their health and supplementation and quantity of tranquilizer used where necessary to support the protocol.

Many of his patients responded quickly to his protocol and he kept them on the vitamin and supplement regime for some time – usually years to prevent relapses and lock in the healing effects.

He worked on chronic patients for years, some up to seven, to effect positive healing outcomes. These chronic patients suffered from schizophrenia for many years and some were addicts of alcohol and other toxic substances.

He was a skillful, conscientious and compassionate healer.

Pellagra Disease

This a disease caused by a deficit of vitamin B complex and in particular vitamin B3.

It is a disease of malnutrition caused by insufficient consumption of vitamin B. There was an epidemic of this disease in the USA and Europe up to the 1940ies. No one knew what caused it but it coincided with the industrial production of white flour and the widespread use of white flour in modern economies.

This disease caused

  • fatigue
  • depression
  • skin disease
  • mental ill health – from dementia to schizophrenia
  • diarrhea
  • death

In 1938 a US scientist discovered that this disease was due to insufficient vitamin B3 in diets because the process of making white flour stripped out all the vitamin B part of the grain. Many countries made it mandatory for vitamin B to be added to white flour and the epidemic began to end.

For some pellagra sufferers additional vitamin B3 was required to regain good health and they needed to continue to supplement with B3 to remain well. They had suffered from pellagra for many years and depended on vitamin B3 supplementation to remain well and not relapse into pellagra symptoms.

This cure of pellagra was the first known nutritional cure for schizophrenia. Many pellagra sufferers had been committed to mental illness institutions with the symptoms of schizophrenia. The vast majority were soon healed with vitamin B supplementation and released fit and well back into their communities.

How Safe Are Vitamins

Vitamins Are Safe

vitamins are safe

No one has ever died from an overdose of vitamins. This is data from US poison control center annual data. See :

Doctor Yourself, pp372-374, AW Saul, Ph.d, Basic Health Publications,2013

“Over a twenty eight year period, vitamin supplements have been alleged to have caused the deaths of a total of 11 people in
the USA.

A new analysis of US Poison control center annual report data indicates that there have, in fact, been no deaths whatsoever from vitamins… none at all, in the 28 years since such reports have been available.”

If anyone claims that someone has died from the effects of taking vitamins it is a lie.

The majority of vitamins are water-soluble and are not stored by your body so this is one of the main reasons why daily vitamins are
essential for good health.

Its a small daily cost for good health and a fatigue free life.

If you are affected by schizophrenia or have friends or family who are then please get Dr Hoffer’s book and look to alternative to drug induced suppression of the symptoms. The book provides a process and case histories that detail how the protocol works.

Find a doctor who will help with the protocol and move into a healthy life.

I have included further references in the bibliography

Wishing you good health and happiness.

Natural Healing for Allergies – Regain Good Health

This article is about identifying allergies, removing the causes where possible and helping your body to cope and heal from the effects of allergies.

Regain your health and energy
.

Extreme Allergic Reactions

The allergic extreme reactions are

– anaphylactic shock. The body reacts severely to the allergen and death follows unless either medical treatment is given or self administered by use of an epipen. Medical help must be obtained as soon as possible and the sufferer monitored for a least 24 hours by a medical professional should a relapse into a shock state happen again.

– asthma. This is caused by the shriveling/contraction of the aveoli in the lungs and this restricts the lung capacity to oxygenate the blood. This loss of lung function is made worse when the sufferer is dehydrated which acts to reduce the lung function – more on this later. Severe cases cause death and medical assistance should be sought immediately.

– mental health issues. Allergies cause mental health issues from depression to ADHD, manic behavior, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and cognitive illness – dementia and Alzheimer. The brain is no longer functioning properly due to the effects of the allergic reaction and mental health problems are the result. Heavy metals [ aluminum and mercury], alcohol, food coloring, side effects of prescribed drugs and allergy causing foods are but a few of the causes of mental ill health due to allergic reactions to these toxic substances.

Some of the less extreme allergic reactions Are :

– skin problems

– fatigue

-depression

– stomach and gut problems including indigestion to celiacs disease

– unable to concentrate and think clearly

– hyperactive and irrational behavior

There are other symptoms. Often these are incorrectly diagnosed as mental health issues and the symptoms are suppressed by prescribed drugs, however this does not effect a cure and often the side effects of legally prescribed drugs are awful over the long term and they lose effectiveness as the body adjusts to them

Sources and Causes

Identification of the causes and thus source of one or more allergic substances [ allergen] is a key process towards reclaiming your health and energy.

The substances to be considered are :

  • food. This is the au se of many allergic reactions. The most commonly identified allergens are dairy products, wheat base products [ includes the protein gluten], artificial food additives and coloring, artificial food preservatives [ the exception here is vitamin C which is very good for you], nuts, seafood [ especially [ crustaceans], and chemical pollutants that are in food produced by industrial farming and processing. Gluten the protein found in most grains has been identified as an allergenic for many people and cause guts dysfunction and can lead to crohns and celiac disease. Wheat is one of the first items to eliminate from your diet – it is in most processed foods so read the labels carefully. Note that lactose is a sugar found in milk and many folk lose the ability to digest this sugar from an early age and become intolerant to it – it causes gut issues. Some people lack the enzyme lactase needed to digest lactose in milk and thus they are allergic to it.
  • Polluted water. Many chemicals are added to water both by accident or pollution and deliberately. Heavy metals [ aluminum, mercury and lead], pesticides and herbicides [ glyphosate from roundup herbicide is just one chemical herbicide right through the food chain due to overuse – it causes breast and liver cancer in mice – mammals very like us genetically]. Fluoride is a toxic by product of industrial chemical processes – in Germany the Nazi’s put it in the water supply in an attempt to pacify the population due to it is effect on the neurological system – is added to water and toothpaste – don’t use this toxic chemical. Chlorine is a toxic chemical [ read the materials data sheet for chlorine it is a horror read as good as Stephen King could create] and is often added to water supplies – check it out for it is toxic properties!
  • mercury used by dentists. Many fillings in teeth contain mercury which is one of the most toxic heavy metals for mammals. In humans, it causes depression and madness and is toxic to all body organs. The mercury leaches from the fillings into the body tissues.
  • Legally prescribed drugs. Drugs prescribed for you by your doctor or bought over the counter. Every year over 80,000 people die from the side effects of legally prescribed drugs. Do your self a big favor and find out what the side effects are for the drugs your doctor gives you – it is scary stuff. I am not saying do not take the medicine but check out whether it is worth the risk of the side effects. Many drugs have been withdrawn by companies because of their toxic and deadly side effects – remember the statin drug Vioxx and others. Just don’t trust only your doctor and take the time to check out the effects of the drugs you consume.
  • Pollen from plants. During spring, summer and autumns the amount of pollen in the air rises due to plants and trees doing their thing. Hay fever is the common term for this allergic response to pollen. Some of the effects are blocked nasal passages, watery and sore eyes and breathing impairment – from wheezing to asthma.
  • Dust mites. Some people have allergic reactions to these tiny bugs. They especially like to live in bedding including pillows and you are exposed to them for the time you are in bed. Allergic reactions range from blocked nasal passages to asthma in varying degrees from mild wheezing to breathing problems. These critters eat dust and in particular the skin we shed continuously as our skin cells are replaced by our wonderful bodies.
  • Animals. Some people have allergic reactions to pets and other animals.
  • Mold. Mold loves to grow in damp places. Many houses and condos are poorly ventilated. Steam from bathrooms and kitchens penetrated walls, carpets, drapes and furnishings plus wardrobes. Mold loves this and grows happily in your home. Some molds are very toxic and release spores that cause serious illnesses and in particular affect lung function and the nasal passages. It can grow inside air conditioners and be efficiently spread through homes, cars and offices. The best ventilation for buildings is called positive pressure ventilation – air is pumped into the building via filters to remove dust and pollen and fumes and this creates an air pressure slightly above the external air pressure. This causes the air inside the building to be replaced during the day and the number of times this happens [ the number of times the air is replaced] the better it is for keeping the building dry and thus preventing mold growth. This ventilation process is used in hospitals, food manufacturing sites and high tec factories to keep the environments both dry and free of pollutants. A side benefit is that a dry house feels warmer and requires less energy to heat.
  • Sugar. Cane sugars contains sucrose and fructose. Fruit contains fructose. Corn is processed to extract corn fructose which is used in many processed foods. Too much sugar overloads your blood with glucose which the body cannot process to prevent sugar toxicity – too much glucose in your blood is toxic. It overloads the liver and the pancreas which your body uses to process glucose and keep it to a safe /non-toxic level in your blood. White flour is quickly digested and this simple carbohydrate is quickly converted to glucose which overloads the blood or serum level of glucose. Over consumption of these simple sugars and carbohydrates pushes your body into glucose ever load to a toxic level in your blood. This is of itself not an allergic issue but as your body remains in glucose overload it will begin to sicken and be unable to function normally and be more prone to diseases manifesting plus obesity.
  • Makeup, deodorants, perfumes and shampoo. Most of these products contain chemicals and heavy metals. The skin is very absorbent and will carry these products into body tissues and capillaries. Avoid any product containing aluminum – many deodorants contain this toxic metal which causes neurological problems and fatigue. It is thought to contribute to Alzheimer disease and dementia. It is very toxic.
  • Cigarette smoke. It irritates the lungs and cause lung dysfunction plus the transfer of toxic chemicals into the blood stream.
  • Toxic fumes. This applies to fumes from car exhausts and factories and power plants burning coal.

This is not a complete list of causes of allergies. In the bibliography there will be references to further information sources.

Allergies can cause severe fatigue, celiacs disease or crohns disease, chronic inflammation of the gut [ gastrointestinal tract], depression and general poor health. All serious and debilitating illnesses. Breathing problems are common ranging from inflamed sinuses, wheezing and asthma.

ADHD, hyperactivity, learning problems and neurological dysfunction can also be a result of allergic reactions.

Sugar toxicity is also a cause of some reactions. The consumption of too much sugar results in obesity and toxic levels of glucose in the blood and liver. This damages the body, including the brain and pancreas functions. The consumption of artificial chemical sweeteners also causes a toxic reaction. The people handling these artificial sweeteners in production environments suffered from serious illness due to prolonged exposure the product.

Allergy testing

The common method is skin tests of substances thought to be causing an allergic reaction. This medical procedure indicates an allergy if the skin reacts to the substance by displaying inflammation and or swelling.

Alas this is not always effective as a means of identifying allergies

Nutrition – Elimination Diet

This elimination diet is sometimes called an Oligoantigenic Diet.

One of the most effective methods and best of all it is free – you can do it yourself – is following an exclusion or elimination diet. This is the process of moving to a diet of eating only foods that is known to be non-allergenic. Keep a food diary and eliminate the known allergens – diary, wheat, nuts, eggs, food additives and coloring, gluten and corn. Record what you eat and how you feel. One day is not enough – do this for at least thirty days to give body a chance to detox and recover.

Eat food that is free of the known allergens by following a simple breakfast, lunch and dinner menu for the 30 days. A simple diet includes one meat, one carbohydrate, one fruit, one vegetable, water and vitamin
supplements.

Foods that are usually hypoallergenic include lamb (and most meats except chicken and veal), vegetables like

broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, carrots, peas, olive or sunflower oil, white potatoes or rice, and a few fruits like apples, bananas or pears. Buckwheat is a seed and you can use buckwheat flour as a substitute for white flour from wheat.

You will lose weight on this regime plus take 4 vitamin B complex B100 capsules to combat the withdrawal symptoms from sugar and simple carbohydrates such as white flour and corn starch ( corn sugar).

Make sure you are well hydrated by drinking a minimum of six glasses of water per day. This will restore health and help detox.

Its important to stick with this process and keep a food diary so that you can be certain about what you eat especially if you decide after a month to include one of the foods you excluded initially. For example, you decide to try a small amounts of cheese and you can document what effect this has accurately in your diary. This takes discipline and commitment however the end results is good health and energy plus it is free .

Water

Get a water filter for your dwelling to eliminate as many chemicals from your water as possible. Chlorine is one of the most common chemicals added to water to kill bacteria. The claim is made that once it has been activated by adding it to water then it is safe – oh really. Why does it sting your eyes and tastes awful? Its still an active chemical which is toxic and you do not want in your body.

Get the best filter you can afford to clean your drinking water of both chemicals and heavy metals.

Drink at least 6 to eight glasses of water per day. A minimum of two glasses before breakfast, lunch and dinner plus two others. Tea, coffee and soda do not hydrate your body – they diuretics and cause you to lose more liquid than you take in and you will become progressively more and more dehydrated and tired. You have a cup of coffee and get short caffeine boost but after a short time you energy lags and fatigue sets in because you are so dehydrated.

A dehydrated body cannot properly :

– digest food

– fight bacteria and infections – your immune system will not function well

– will not eliminate waste and toxins properly.

– dry mucus membranes and dry eyes.

Dehydration causes breathing issues, constipation, heart arrhythmia, joint pain and arthritis and so many other unnecessary health problems.
Dehydration is one of the causes of asthma – the lungs do not function well because the body regulates the water shortage by protecting the lungs with a layer of mucus to prevent the aveoli from drying out and thus being permanently damaged. This impedes the breathing process and causes wheezing and shortness of breath. Gives asthma sufferers water asap to help relieve the symptoms.

Drink six to eight glasses of clean filtered water per day and recover your health. Go to this page to learn more about how dangerous dehydration is and yet how easy it is to avoid.

You may be having allergy symptoms because you are dehydrated and thus unwell. Be properly hydrated to eliminate dehydration as a possible cause of fatigue and being unable to think coherently.

Cerebral Allergies

These allergies are so potent that they cause chemical imbalance in the brain and manifest as mental illness ranging from depression, ADHD, Obsessive Compulsions to bi-polar, and to schizophrenia.

A Canadian doctor, Abram Hoffer M.D., PhD., specialized in psychiatry and found whilst treating patients with mental illnesses that allergies were the cause. His most memorable early cases were :

  1. She had been ill for three years with hospital admissions as a psychiatric patient. The first step of Doctor Hoffer’s treatment was a 4-day fast, the patient drank only water [ eight glasses per day], followed by an elimination diet of food known to be non allergenic. By the fifth day she had recovered and apologized to her husband for her behavior whilst ill. She gradually added 4 new foods per day and had no adverse reactions. She returned home and took some aspirin for a sore hip and the schizophrenia returned. She had a bad reaction to aspirin. Once off the aspirin she remained well and had no further episodes of mental illness.
  2. He was middle-aged and suffered from depression for four years and then was diagnosed as schizophrenic due to abnormal behavior. He was put on the initial 4-day fast and stopped smoking cigarettes. He started feeling better and went onto the elimination diet and became well. He went home and began smoking again and the symptoms of his mental illness returned. He quit smoking and remained well and returned to his job as a school principal.
  3. A catatonic young woman who was so rigid she could not walk. She did not respond to the elimination diet so she was put on a controlled fasting treatment and by the fifth day was normal. Food was re-introduced but she became ill again within two days. Doctor Hoffer found that she was allergic to meat – animal protein. She remained well when animal protein was excluded from her diet.

Dr. Hoffer then went onto cure many mentally ill patients and used the initial fasting plus the follow-up food elimination diet protocol. He also used vitamins and trace elements due to his knowledge of the disease pellagra and treating alcoholics.

Essential Vitamins For Allergy Sufferers

Vitamin B complex

Your body needs the b complex group of vitamins to function properly and in particular vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 is critical for the process of repairing and replacing cells.

A deficit of the B complex vitamins causes skin problems, fatigue and muddled thinking – this ranges from difficultly in undertaking normal tasks at home and at work to a dementia type mental state of forgetfulness and confusion. It is very important to supplement with B complex to eliminate a vitamin B deficit as the cause of ill-health.

Take 3 vitamin B 100 capsules three times daily to restore and remain health.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is essential for our body to remain well and function properly. A deficit of vitamin C causes fatigue and malfunctioning of the immune system. A chronic lack of vitamin C causes a disease called scurvy the symptoms of which include

  • fatigue
  • depression
  • unable to concentrate
  • loss muscle and tissue strength
  • gum disease and tooth loss
  • hemorrhaging
  • arthritis and joint damage
  • failure of the immune system to fight bacterial and viral infections
  • death

Unlike most mammals we cannot make vitamin C and must get it through our nutrition. Most diets do not include enough vitamin C and supplementation is necessary to remain well or recover health.

If a person is unwell then supplementation with vitamin C is critical if health is to be regained. When unwell a person needs greater amounts of vitamin C to heal and return to good health – this will not happen by means of food intake alone and supplementation is essential.

The recommended minimum intake of vitamin C per day for a healthy person is three 1000mg capsules spread over the day. For an unwell person vitamin C should be taken each day up to bowel tolerance level. This is the intake at which gas is experienced or a loose stool – this is called bowel tolerance level. If this level is reached reduce the vitamin C intake so that this effect goes away.

It is essential for your body’s immune system to function properly and to remain healthy.

Vitamin D

Our body can create vitamin D however you must spend enough time in sunlight for this to happen. During winter and spring this is a real problem. Vitamin D is essential for good health however most people are in a deficit state.

A deficit of vitamin D causes loss of bone mass and depression. For allergies, it :

  • reduces the risk of severe allergic reactions
  • reduces the severity of asthma
  • helps reduce dermatitis and eczema
  • prevents autoimmune disease
  • restores the immune system to proper function and helps the body repair and replace cells.

Take at least 400 IU per day and if you have no exposure to sunlight take two 400 IU capsules per day.

The medical authorities recommend this vitamin for people over 50 to maintain bone mass and avoid fractures – it keeps you happy as well!

Magnesium

This a key trace element for all of your cells and its is especially important for your brain and nervous system to function properly. Supplement with up to 200 mg twice daily. Use the magnesium orotate form which is more readily metabolized by your body.

Selenium

This is an essential trace element for good health. Many soils are deficient in selenium and many people do not get sufficient in their food intake.

Take one 20 mg tablet daily.
